We begin in Lugano’s historic heart, exploring the landmarks while uncovering the Swiss-Italian influences that shaped the city.

It is famous for its massive frescoed wall the masterpiece fresco of the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ (1529–1532) by Bernardino Luini, a disciple of Leonardo da Vinci and a master of the Lombard Renaissance.

A quiet, charming square nestled in the heart of Lugano, Piazza San Rocco is home to the beautiful Church of San Rocco, built in the late 1500s after a vow during the plague. The church features impressive Baroque frescoes, a 17th-century altar, and a historic organ. And there are beautiful 17th-century frescoes by the Valsolda Pozzi brothers depict St Roch’s life, along with scenes of Christ in Glory and the Nativity cycle in the dedicated chapel .

We can meet in front of the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura (the glass building). Near the main entrance, there are public restrooms on the side (look at the picture).
