What to expect

Day 1: Dehradun to Pantwari and Trek to Kathian Campsite
  1. Pantwari
    10h
Day 1 of the Nag Tibba Trek starts from Dehradun. Our base village, Pantwari, is about 104 km away and the drive takes around 3–4 hours on a well-paved road. On the way, you will pass well-known places like Kempty Falls and Nainbagh.

As you travel uphill from Dehradun to Pantwari, you will slowly notice a change in surroundings. The towns become smaller, and the area feels more peaceful and rural as you move closer to Nag Tibba.

Once you reach Pantwari, the excitement of the trek begins. The trail starts right from the village, and soon you’ll be welcomed by beautiful mountain views.

After trekking for about 2 km, if you look back, you’ll see a lovely view of Pantwari village surrounded by green hills.

You’ll spend the night at our campsite in Kathian. Evenings are usually enjoyed around a bonfire, with light music, singing, and conversations. Later at night, if the sky is clear, you can enjoy stargazing, as the campsite offers a beautiful view of the star-filled sky.
Day 2: Kathian Campsite to Nag Tibba Summit and return to Dehradun
  1. Nag Tibba
    10h · Admission ticket included
If you want to see the sunrise from the Nag Tibba summit, you need to start early. Wake up around 2:30 am, freshen up, have some tea or coffee, and leave Kathian Campsite by 3:00 am with your trek guide. You’ll use a headtorch while trekking in the dark and follow your guide’s instructions.

The trail has a mix of uphill and downhill sections, and it takes about 2–3 hours to reach the Nag Tibba Summit (3,022 m). Watching the sunrise from the summit is a truly special experience. Enjoy views of peaks like Kalanaag, Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, along with the Doon Valley.

If you prefer not to start so early, you can begin the trek at 6:00 am and reach the summit by around 9:00 am.

After spending some time at the summit, we’ll start descending towards Pantwari. From there, the trek continues downhill, and you’ll reach Pantwari in about 4 hours, marking the end of the trek. We will head back to Dehradun and reach by early evening or late evening.
