Overview

Eat Like a Zanzibari is Stone Town's first authentic street food experience. Over the course of this adventurous 2.5 hour eating tour, you will visit carefully selected, off-the-beaten-path food vendors in neighborhoods (and alleyways) around Stone Town.

We are committed to sharing the best street food with you and have selected vendors based on these qualifications:
1) Quality - the vendors are extremely popular among locals
2) Tradition - their recipes have been passed down through generations
3) Impact- they are hardworking, kind people who rarely benefit from tourism

This tour is also an excellent way to orient yourself to Stone Town as you will pass through several neighborhoods and get more comfortable with the endless twists and turns!

What to expect

You will interact with vendors and learn about Zanzibari food culture while sampling a variety of local foods and beverages. Through it all, you will feel like a true Stone Town insider who's spending time with an old friend (your awesome host, Lodi)!

While the focus of this tour is on street food, your guide will point out cultural landmarks as you pass through several neighborhoods. You will also hear a few stories from your guide's own colorful life growing up in Stone Town.

NOTE: Breakfast and dinner itineraries will visit at least 6 different vendors. The foods you sample will depend on the time of day. The menu is an example of some foods you will experience. We look forward to surprising and delighting you!
