What to expect

  1. Skara Brae
    1h 30m · Admission ticket not included
Orkney’s fascinating Neolithic village. Build around 3100BC, it is one of the oldest villages in Europe and a UNESCO World heritage site. See the architecture and way of life of a sophisticated ancient society.

You may also wish to see the nearby Skaill House

To ensure availability, please reserve your tickets to Skara Brae in advance, from: www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/skara-brae/
  2. Yesnaby Cliffs
    45m
Dramatic and beautiful shore, visited not only for a photo opportunity, but for bird and cetaceans sightings.
  3. Ring of Brodgar
    1h
A mysterious stone circle, offering a glimpse into Orkney’s ancient spirituality. Built 5000 years ago, it is older than Stonehenge and the great Pyramids of Egypt. The area itself, set in a beautiful landscape, is a nature reserve, rich in wildlife typical of Orkney.
  4. Standing Stones of Stenness
    30m
A remnant of another, ceremonial stone circle, at the heart of Neolithic Orkney. It predates even the Ring of Brodgar!...
  5. Unstan Chambered Cairn
    30m
The ancient thumb, built over 5000 years ago, by one of Orkney first farming communities who settled by the Loch of Stenness.
