We offer a private cultural experience at Onishi Tsune Shoten, a renowned Kyoto folding fan atelier with over a century of history, located in a Kyoto townhouse over 150 years old.
You will take part in the fan-painting process, one of the key steps in traditional sensu making. Your hand-painted fan will then be finished by skilled artisans and shipped to your home overseas.
Following the crafting session, you’ll experience Tosenkyo, a traditional fan-tossing game that gained popularity during the Edo period. You'll learn how to play from the basics—including how to throw and score—before competing in a friendly match.
Though simple in concept, this elegant game is surprisingly engaging and full of charm.
Come and enjoy a piece of Kyoto’s living cultural heritage, passed down for over a hundred years.
