The town is on the TOKAI-DO which is main street from TOKYO to KYOTO.
However Arimatsu keeps many traditional houses.
And it's only 1km town, so don't worry about physical strength.
You can see the actual Tie-Dye technique in front of you by old women living around here. In addition, you can experience the Tie dye activity and bring back your tie dye handkerchief as memorable souvenir.

They live around Arimatsu, so they surely explain how to tie it and old history etc...
In addition, you can actually try this activity.
At first you tie the handkerchief with thread.
But it's not so difficult. Just you can tie as you like.
And you can dye with professional person.
After losing the thread, beautiful pattern comes up on the cloth.
