2. The House of the Virgin Mary
   45m · Admission ticket included
The House of the Virgin Mary is considered a sacred place of pilgrimage for both the Catholic and Orthodox worlds.
Every year, thousands of Christians visit this holy place, especially on August 15, the day on which the Assumption of Mary is celebrated, in commemoration of her elevation to heaven.

The Catholic Church has recognized the sanctity of this site, which has been reflected in the visits of three popes:

   Pope Paul VI (1967)

   Pope John Paul II (1979)

   Pope Benedict XVI (2006)

But the value of this sacred place goes beyond Christianity.
In Islam, Mary (Maryam) is seen as a pure woman, chosen and blessed by God. She is the only woman mentioned by name in the Koran, and her figure is deeply respected by Muslims.

Therefore, the House of the Virgin Mary is not only a Christian shrine, but also a place of collection and prayer for Muslims, where people of different religions find a common space of faith and peace.
