Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and uncover a hidden gem at the Hikawa Clock Shop (also known as Hikawa Watch Shop), nestled in the peaceful streets of Mount Fuji’s “Ladder Town”. This quaint, retro-style watch shop is more than it seems—hidden inside is a secret photo spot where travelers can unlock a vintage camera to capture the perfect shot of Japanese street scenes with Mount Fuji majestically framed at the end of the road. The area is affectionately known as “Ladder Town" The quiet charm of the neighborhood, combined with the symmetrical lines of the road and the dramatic presence of the mountain, makes this spot a favorite among Instagram influencers and photographers seeking authentic and aesthetic backdrops. It’s the perfect place to take a unique photo that blends traditional Japanese ambiance with the natural grandeur of Fuji-san—a hidden highlight for those exploring Japan’s lesser-known treasures.
Oshino Hakkai
2h

Experience the serene beauty of Oshino Hakkai, one of Japan’s most picturesque villages, renowned for its eight crystal-clear spring ponds formed by the snowmelt of Mount Fuji filtering through volcanic layers over 80 years. Nestled between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako, this charming village offers a glimpse into traditional rural Japan, surrounded by thatched-roof houses, ancient shrines, and lush greenery. The shimmering ponds reflect the surrounding nature and, on clear days, offer breathtaking views of Mount Fuji mirrored in the water—a perfect photo opportunity. Visitors can taste the naturally sweet and pure spring water, which is considered sacred and refreshing. Enhance your experience with a delicious lunch at the Golden Fuji Restaurant, located right in Oshino Hakkai, where you can enjoy local Japanese cuisine with views of Mt. Fuji in the background.

Just steps away from Kawaguchiko Station, the LAWSON convenience store has become an unexpected but wildly popular travel photography hotspot. This humble blue-and-white store is now considered a “holy place” for Instagrammers and photographers, thanks to its unbeatable backdrop: a perfect, unobstructed view of Mount Fuji rising dramatically behind it. The contrast of the everyday convenience store with Japan’s most iconic natural landmark creates a surreal, almost cinematic street scene that travelers from around the world come to capture. For the best shot, set up your tripod across the street, turn on portrait mode, and patiently wait for a quiet moment with fewer people or cars in frame. Early morning or just before sunset offers the best light and the least foot traffic. Whether you’re a professional photographer or just looking to level up your travel feed, this simple Lawson in Kawaguchiko offers one of the most iconic and share-worthy views of Mount Fuji you’ll ever find.

Fuji car tour follows the stunning north scenic road that runs between Kawaguchiko and Oishi Park, offering panoramic lake views and unobstructed vistas of Japan’s most iconic mountain. As you drive east along the lakeshore, you'll pass through peaceful landscapes, charming lakeside villages, and scenic spots like the Maple Corridor, which bursts into vibrant red and gold foliage during the autumn season. Near the end of the route, Oishi Park provides one of the best roadside views of Mount Fuji with Lake Kawaguchiko in the foreground—an ideal spot for snapping photos from the car.
Oishi Park
2h 30m

Experience the seasonal beauty of Lake Kawaguchiko with a flexible itinerary that adapts to the best nature has to offer. During the non-autumn season, the tour will take you to the scenic Oishi Park, where you’ll enjoy about 50 minutes exploring stunning lake views, peaceful flower gardens, and one of the most iconic photo angles of Mount Fuji reflected in Lake Kawaguchiko. In contrast, during the autumn foliage season (from October 26 to November 20), the focus shifts to the breathtaking Kawaguchiko Maple Corridor—a seasonal highlight famous for its vibrant red and golden maple trees that create a tunnel of color along the riverbank.
