Athens Private Sightseeing Tour With Driver

1. Acropolis
   20m
From the pedestrian walkway of Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, you’ll enjoy one of the most impressive close-up views of the Acropolis of Athens. Just above you rises the sacred rock, with the Parthenon standing proudly at its peak — a masterpiece of ancient Greek architecture that has overlooked Athens for over 2,500 years.

This elegant promenade, free of traffic and lined with trees, offers a relaxed and authentic atmosphere, allowing you to take in the scale and beauty of the Acropolis from below. It’s one of the best spots in the city for photos, where history feels incredibly close and alive.
2. Temple of Olympian Zeus
   10m
At this stop, you’ll see the magnificent remains of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, once one of the largest temples in the ancient world. Dedicated to Zeus, the king of the gods, the temple originally featured over 100 towering Corinthian columns, showcasing the scale and ambition of ancient Athens.

Although only a few columns remain today, their size and elegance still give a powerful sense of the monument’s original grandeur. Construction began in the 6th century BC and was completed centuries later by the Romans, making it a unique blend of Greek vision and Roman engineering.

It’s a quick but impressive stop that highlights the power and history of ancient Athens.
3. Arch of Hadrian
   5m
Right next to the ancient temple stands the Arch of Hadrian, a beautifully preserved Roman monument built in honor of Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD.

This elegant gateway once marked the boundary between the old Greek city and the new Roman part of Athens. One side of the arch was dedicated to Theseus, the legendary founder of Athens, while the other honored Hadrian, reflecting the transition from classical Greek heritage to Roman influence.

Today, it stands as a symbolic link between two great eras of history and is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city — perfect for a quick photo stop.
4. Panathenaic Stadium
   10m
At this stop, you’ll visit the historic Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro, meaning “beautifully marbled.” This is the only stadium in the world built entirely of white marble.

Originally constructed in ancient times for the Panathenaic Games and later restored for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, it stands as a powerful symbol of both ancient and modern sporting history.

With its impressive horseshoe shape and capacity of around 50,000 spectators, the stadium offers a unique opportunity to walk through a venue where the Olympic spirit was revived. It’s a great spot for photos and a moment to connect with the origins of the modern Olympics.
5. Mount Lycabettus
   15m
From this scenic balcony on Mount Lycabettus, you’ll enjoy one of the most elegant views over Athens. From this elevated vantage point, the city unfolds below you, leading your eye naturally toward the iconic Acropolis of Athens rising proudly in the distance.

The setting offers a perfect balance of comfort and breathtaking scenery, making it an ideal spot to pause, take photos, and appreciate the beauty and scale of Athens from above. It’s a memorable highlight of the tour, combining stunning views with a relaxed atmosphere.
6. Changing of the Guard Ceremony
   20m
At the rear of the Hellenic Parliament, just outside the Presidential Mansion, you’ll witness the ceremonial Changing of the Guard, where the Evzones carry out their precise and highly symbolic routine.

This quieter location offers a more intimate view compared to Syntagma Square, allowing you to observe the guards up close as they march in perfect synchronization, wearing their traditional uniforms and performing their distinctive, disciplined movements.

It’s a unique moment of Greek tradition and ceremony, offering a refined and authentic glimpse into the country’s modern heritage and military honor.
7. Academy of Athens
   15m
At this stop, you’ll see the famous neoclassical “Trilogy of Athens,” located along Panepistimiou Street, one of the city’s most elegant avenues.

The ensemble includes three landmark buildings: the Academy of Athens, the National Library of Greece, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Together, they form one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in Europe.

With their impressive marble facades, detailed sculptures, and grand columns, these buildings represent the intellectual and cultural revival of modern Greece. It’s a short stop, but one that beautifully captures the elegance and identity of the city.
8. Syntagma District
   Pass by
As we pass through Syntagma Square, you’ll see the heart of modern Athens, a lively meeting point surrounded by historic buildings, hotels, and the energy of the city.

Just above the square stands the Hellenic Parliament, the former royal palace and today the center of Greek democracy. Here you can also catch a glimpse of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where the Evzones stand guard in their traditional uniforms.

After this final drive-by, we continue comfortably back through the city for your drop-off at your hotel or any location of your choice, ending the tour at your convenience.
