Step into the quiet of the Arctic wilderness on a small-group ski tour around Äkäslompolo and the fells of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, Finland's most visited national park.
We glide on OAC wilderness skis – short, wide skis with a built-in skin – so you can walk, climb and gently slide through deep snow without any previous skiing experience. Your guide chooses the day's route for the best snow and light, winding through snow-laden spruce forest, open bogs and gentle fell slopes.
Along the way you'll learn simple technique, read animal tracks in the snow and share a warm drink and snack by the fire in a traditional wilderness hut. Groups are kept small (max 6) so the pace suits everyone and there is time to simply stop and listen to the silence.
All ski equipment is provided. Dress in warm layers; we can also lend extra winter clothing if needed.
Meet your guides in the Jounin Kauppa shopping centre car park in Äkäslompolo, 10 minutes before the start time. We drive together to the day's trailhead, chosen for the best snow and weather. Pick-up from your accommodation in Äkäslompolo or Ylläs can be arranged - message us after booking.
