Overview

Mount Longonot’s moderate hike and crater-rim route are easier to tackle with park entry, a private guide, and transport from Nairobi arranged in one day. Drive through the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the Great Rift Valley View Point before hiking through the volcano’s landscape toward the crater rim. If you want a longer challenge, continue around the entire rim. Views extend across the Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha, while the park’s wildlife includes giraffes, zebras, elands, and birds of prey. After the hike, stop for lunch at a place of your choice before returning to Nairobi.

What to expect

    Start your epic journey with a scenic drive through the lush green highlands and stop at the Great Rift Valley View Point to capture the perfect photographs. Then, make your way to the park for a medium fitness hike to the crater rim, where with a greater spirit to adventure, you can choose to go around the entire rim.

    The beautifully sprawling volcano and crater forest coupled with the scenic landscape views of Lake Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley are most definitely one of the greatest attractions and experiences.

    Major wildlife attractions include elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe and Grant’s gazelles. The park is also a paradise for birds of prey.

    After the hike, you take a break for lunch at a place of your choice assisted by the driver guide. Lunch is paid directly as per your choice of menu.

    After lunch you embark on your journey back to Nairobi where you will be dropped at your hotel or at the airport depending on your schedule of travel.
