Overview

Weave through a labyrinth of art-filled laneways in Melbourne's heart, and hear curious tales from the city's fascinating history.

You'll then settle into one of Melbourne’s most iconic and beloved wine bars. Picture dark wood interiors and cherry leather seats under a towering blackboard of handwritten wines.

Savour a curated tasting of three old and new world wines, accompanied by some fancy Portuguese-inspired tapas.

Hello, I’m your guide, David from Curious Wanderers. I’ve spent years exploring these laneways, collecting stories and sipping wine in quiet corners.

This tour is a love letter to the city I call home.

What's included

  • Curious tales from Melbourne's fascinating history
  • Three curated wine tastings (half pours, 75ml each)
  • A visit to one of Melbourne's most iconic and beloved wine bars
  • A small-group tour with up to six guests only
  • Walking laneway tour with six stops to view and learn about Melbourne's street art
  • Light tapas (we cater for dietary restrictions)
  • Comfortable shoes to traverse Melbourne's cobblestone streets
  • Weather essentials to protect you from the elements while we stroll
  • Don't forget your camera!

What to expect

We’ll stroll together down hidden laneways while looking at a diverse collection of street art off the beaten track. I’ll give you a flavour of who the artists are, their inspiration and process.

Then, as we continue our walk through Chinatown and a historic area (formerly known as Little Lon), we’ll dive into Melbourne's past and its immense growth during the Gold Rush. I’ll share fascinating snippets about the colourful characters who settled here and the unimaginable challenges they faced.

We’ll then visit a truly iconic wine bar, steeped in its own history, for a wine tasting of three old and new world wines, accompanied by Portuguese-inspired tapas. Picture dark wood interiors and cherry leather seats under a towering blackboard of handwritten wines.

You’ll have the opportunity to capture the quirk, creativity and beauty of this grand city, and I’ll point out some of my favourite wine bars that you can return to.
