What to expect

Day 1: Moshi – Machame Gate to Machame Camp
  1. Kilimanjaro National Park
    7h
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. After registration and briefing with the mountain crew, we begin our trek through lush rainforest. Keep an eye out for monkeys, birds, and unique flora. We gradually ascend to Machame Camp, our first overnight stop.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
  1. Kilimanjaro National Park
    6h
Today’s trek takes us out of the rainforest and into the heather and moorland zone. The trail is steeper but offers panoramic views. As we climb, the vegetation thins, and we get our first clear view of the Shira Plateau.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
  1. Kilimanjaro National Park
    8h
A key acclimatization day. We ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch and then descend to Barranco Camp. This hike follows the "climb high, sleep low" strategy to help your body adapt to the altitude.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
  1. Kilimanjaro National Park
    5h
We start by tackling the famous Barranco Wall – a short but steep climb that requires some scrambling. From the top, the trail continues through rocky terrain and valleys, leading us to Karanga Camp.
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
  1. Kilimanjaro National Park
    4h
A short trek today gives us time to rest and prepare for the midnight summit push. Barafu Camp is cold, windy, and located on a ridge – offering a clear view of the summit. Early dinner and sleep are essential.
Day 6: Summit Attempt – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Mweka Camp
  1. Kilimanjaro National Park
    15h
Midnight start for the final push to the summit! We trek through the cold, dark hours to Stella Point (5,739m), then continue to Uhuru Peak – Africa’s highest point. After taking photos and enjoying the sunrise, we descend to Barafu Camp for brunch, then continue down to Mweka Camp.
