Overview

This retreat hosted by Unlocked has been carefully and passionately curated to give the adventurous and wellness-minded person an unforgettable and authentic experience in the magical country of Peru. On this retreat we explore Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes and hike Machu Picchu. We experience the rich culture and charm of Cusco, practice yoga in the immaculate studio space of a luxury retreat center in the Sacred Valley, meditate in the seven Chakra gardens, discover ancient ruins, and explore the lost city of Machu Picchu.

Both guides have lived in Peru, are fluent in Spanish, have wonderful relationships with local businesses and individuals in Cusco, and are very familiar with the culture and customs. This gives you an extremely authentic experience while in Peru with us—one that cannot be replicated.

What to expect

Day 1: Cusco

    On this day, we will have a group lunch at the Niños Hotel followed by a grounding Cacao Ceremony led by a Peruvian wise woman. After this, we will enjoy a fabulous vegan dinner at Green Point (TripAdvisor’s 2022 World’s Hidden Gem Restaurant).
Day 2: Cusco, Temple of the Moon

Day 3: Sacred Valley - Willka T’ika

    Bus departure for the Sacred Valley at 2:30pm (Willka T’ika Retreat Center)

    Free time to explore the retreat center - get a massage, meditate in the Chakra gardens, sip on herbal tea fresh from the gardens, receive crystal light therapy, or make an offering to the 1,000-year-old Lucuma tree.

Day 4: Sacred Valley - Maras Salt Mines - Willka T’ika

    We take the back way to walk through a small and quaint village of Urubamba to get to the Maras Salt Mines. We then hike to the top to get a spectacular view of the salt mines - and to enjoy some of the cute new shops they installed during Covid. This is a long hike and is medium in difficulty. Expect to walk/hike 8 miles.

    Train to Machu Picchu - This is roughly a 1.5 hour train ride from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu. This train goes through the Andes Mountains and is an absolutely breathtaking ride!

Day 7: Machu Picchu!

    We have a very early wake up call to be some of the first people to hike up the mountain. We will wake up at 4:30am, have breakfast at the hotel, and then begin our trek up Machu Picchu. (If you cannot do the hike, you can purchase bus tickets in Aguas Calientes. These tickets are around $30 USD).

    You will have ample time to explore the lost city of Machu Picchu and return down to Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own.
  2. Cusco

    After hiking and lunching, an afternoon train will take us back to Cusco, Peru. This is about a four-hour train ride.

    Once we arrive back into Cusco at the Niños Hotel, there will be the option to eat something from their restaurant if you are hungry.
Day 8: Cusco - and goodbye for now!

    You will be able to eat breakfast at your leisure at Niños Hotel prior to your taxi to the Cusco International airport. This is where we will say goodbye for now and thank you so much for joining us on this incredible adventure!

Meeting and pickup

Pickup details

We will provide the best flight options that will have you arrive at the Cusco airport close to pick up time. If you for some reason cannot arrive to the Cusco airport within the pick up window, we can schedule you a safe taxi that will bring you to the hotel.

  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
