Overview

Join us on an expedition into the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is one of the most ecologically diverse areas that includes tropical forests, mangroves, wetlands, savannas, and coastal areas.

We will explore this incredibly biodiverse region by boat, navigating the mangrove estuaries that were used by ancient Maya traders. Be on the lookout for monkeys, a wide variety of bird species, and an array of marine life, such as sea turtles, dolphins, manatees, and various tropical fish.

From the village of Punta Allen, a lobster fishing community deep in the reserve, we will embark on a coral reef snorkeling trip, enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by locals, and have some time to relax and stroll through the town.

  1. Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve

    Embark on a boat safari through the mangrove estuaries of the Sian Ka'an biosphere, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. The reserve measures 530,000 hectares and is home to more than 300 unique fauna species, including birds, crocodiles, dolphins, turtles, and many species of tropical fish. This journey will eventually lead us to the beautiful Mexican Caribbean where we will enjoy snorkeling above some of the most well-preserved coral reefs in the region.

    Our visit to Punta Allen, a small fishing village that relies primarily on lobster farming, includes a delicious lunch prepared by locals, and some time to stroll around the village. We will also take a boat trip out the reef areas, enjoy a guided reef snorkeling tour, and swim at ‘La Piscina’, a shallow stretch of sand where the incredible visibility allows you to quickly spot giant starfish and many species of tropical fish.
