Overview

Discover the secrets of traditional Sardinian goldsmithery and learn how to create a unique jewel with your hands.
You will enter the workshop of an artisan goldsmith who will guide you step by step in the transformation of a simple silver thread into a small and personal art form. You will learn about the raw material and the different steps necessary to make a filigree braid, a traditional element at the base of the creation of Sardinian jewelry.
Next, you will learn how to model and weld silver wire, customizing your jewel and taking care of every detail, up to the final stages of finishing and polishing. Each step requires attention, patience and dexterity. It will not just be a workshop, but an opportunity to slow down, focus and dedicate yourself to a stimulating and rewarding activity.
At the end you will take with you a small jewel made with your own hands, an authentic and personal memory to keep over time.

What to expect

Create a silver ring in a goldsmith's workshop in Cagliari: 3 hours of practical experience to transform silver into a unique jewel to keep with you.

PROGRAMME
The instructor will guide you step by step through each stage, providing theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations before you begin the various steps.
- On your arrival, the artisan will welcome you with a piece of pre-shaped silver wire.
- After some theoretical guidance, you will move straight on to the practical part: wire drawing (you will pull and stretch the silver wire)
- Our artisan will guide you through each subsequent stage: twisting the wire to create the braid, and heating it with a blowtorch.
- You will then measure the wire to fit the finger on which you wish to wear your jewellery, and the guide will help you make a small solder joint to close it.
- Finally, you will finish and complete your ring by polishing it.
