Arrive at Thean Hou Temple, built by the Hainanese community of Kuala Lumpur and completed in 1989. Your Private Licensed Guide walks you through the six-tiered complex, explaining the three goddesses in the main prayer hall — Mazu the Sea Goddess in the centre, Guan Yin the Goddess of Mercy on the right, and the Goddess of the Waterfront on the left. The scent of incense fills the air as devotees come to pray, light joss sticks, and consult the Kau Cim oracles — traditional fortune-telling instruments that have been used here since the temple opened. From the upper levels, the views across Kuala Lumpur are some of the finest in the city. The Chinese zodiac garden, the tortoise pond, and the wishing well are all here too, each with its own story.
