Overview

Starting in mid-November, Inunaki Mountain transforms with vibrant autumn colors, creating the perfect season for trekking. The mountains, covered in red and yellow hues, resemble a beautiful painting. As you walk along trails blanketed with fallen leaves, the crisp autumn air and seasonal scents provide a refreshing escape from daily life.

This limited-time trekking experience amid stunning autumn foliage offers a unique adventure that can only be enjoyed during this special season.

In this tour, you hike up the mountain to the Sipporyuji temple with our guide through the primeval forest which has been a training basement for Yamabushi, the Buddhist monk. After visiting the temple, you go back to Fudouguchi-Kan, Hot springs Japanese inn at the entrance of Mt. Inunaki. You have authentic Japanese cuisine and enjoy soaking in the Inunaki hot springs. What to expect

  1. Mt. Inunaki
    4h
Mt. Inunaki is regarded as one of the oldest sacred mountains in Japan. According to recent historical research and advances in the academic study of Shugen-do, Mt. Inunaki is now considered the birthplace of Shugen-do. We hike up this mountain to the temple. About 35 minutes bus transportation from Izumisano station to Mt. Inunaki and its return transportation is included in the tour duration.
  2. Shipporyuji Temple
    30m
Stone pillars are lined up on both sides of the approach, and red and black flags are erected. It is a Shugendo-style temple, with many shrines and Buddhist statues. The syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism is evident, with the Hotei statue visible behind the stone torii gate. The Inunaki River flows through the mountains, and there are seven waterfalls and places to practice.
  3. Fudoguchikan
    2h · Admission ticket included
You can experience bathing in Inunaki Hot spring onsen. Choose between two types of hot spring pools. Enjoy natural hot spring bathing in the Open-air bath with a view of a mountain stream, or the comfort of an Indoor large bath.
After a mountain walk, you will have the Kaiseki lunch at Fudouguchi kan and moment of genuine relief.
