What to expect

  1. 1h 20m
Kishi Station became famous thanks to a feline stationmaster. In 2006, after the local Wakayama Electric Railway took over the line, the company appointed an 8-year-old calico cat “Tama” (たま), previously kept at a station store, as stationmaster to boost tourism. Tama passed away in 2015 and is now succeeded by the second generation, “Nitama.” You can meet Nitama (resting on Wed & Thu; trainee “Yontama” will be on duty instead). You’ll also find a Cat Café, cat-themed souvenirs, stamps, and decorations at the beautifully designed station.
  2. Kuroshio Market
    2h 20m · Admission ticket included
Watch a masterful live performance as expert chefs skillfully dismantle a giant tuna using traditional Japanese techniques—all with just a single knife. Held daily at Kuroshio Market, this exciting tuna cutting show combines speed, precision, and showmanship. Learn about the anatomy and quality of tuna while marveling at the chef’s craftsmanship. After the show, enjoy a wide selection of fresh sashimi, sushi, grilled seafood, and local Wakayama specialties available throughout the market.
  3. Rinku Premium Outlets
    1h 20m · Admission ticket included
Located just across from Kansai International Airport, Rinku Premium Outlets is Western Japan’s largest outlet mall. With over 210 stores, this spacious, open-air complex offers top international and Japanese brands at discounted prices. From fashion and sportswear to accessories and lifestyle goods, it’s a shopper’s paradise. Designed with a charming American port-town theme, it also features family-friendly facilities like nursing rooms and stroller rentals. Enjoy great deals and a relaxing shopping experience before heading to the airport.
