As exclusive private tour if you have been to Summer palance before , you could substitute to other popular attractions such as 1) Temple of Heaven; 2) Beijing Hutong. Please feel free to tell your guide if you need make any changes.
2. Beijing

3. The Palace Museum

   In the afternoon ,continue the visit to Forbidden city, once the Imperial Palace for 24 different emperors during the Ming and Qing Dynasty, known for its specular architecture and valuable historic artifacts on exhibition. Spend quality time with your guide and have great learning of ancient Chinese history and traditions. (Please note that this site is closed on every Mondays, you could substitute to other attraction if your tour is booked for Monday).
   
   Around evening you will be dropped off to Beijing railway station for your train back to Shanghai.
4. Shanghai Railway Station
