What to expect

  1. Milatos Cave
    2h · Admission ticket included
Hidden in the rugged hills above the village of Milatos lies the historic Milatos Cave, a place where natural beauty and Cretan history come together. The cave is known not only for its impressive chambers and stalactites, but also for its significant role during the Ottoman period, when hundreds of locals sought refuge here in 1823. A small chapel inside the cave, dedicated to Saint Thomas, stands as a moving memorial to those who perished during that tragic time.

Today, visitors can follow a scenic path leading to the cave’s entrance, enjoying panoramic views of the Lassithi coastline along the way. Inside, the atmosphere is serene and reflective, inviting you to explore its chambers while learning about the stories that shaped its past. A visit to Milatos Cave is both a journey into Crete’s wild landscapes and a step into its resilient history.
  2. 1h · Admission ticket included
A visit to a traditional olive oil mill in Crete is a journey into one of the island’s most treasured traditions. Olive trees have been cultivated here for thousands of years, and today Crete is renowned worldwide for the exceptional quality of its olive oil. At the mill, you will discover the entire process of production — from harvesting the olives to pressing them into the "liquid gold" that defines the Cretan diet. Friendly hosts will guide you through both modern techniques and age-old methods, giving you an authentic understanding of this essential part of local life. The highlight of the visit is, of course, the tasting session, where you can sample different varieties of extra virgin olive oil, appreciating their rich aromas and flavors. Surrounded by the unique atmosphere of rural Crete, this experience offers not only insight into olive oil making but also a deeper connection with the island’s culture and traditions.
  3. Lassithi Plateau
    3h
Visiting the Lasithi Plateau is a journey into one of Crete’s most enchanting landscapes, where history, tradition, and natural beauty come together in perfect harmony. Surrounded by the imposing peaks of the Dikti Mountains, the plateau stretches like a vast mosaic of fertile fields, orchards, and quaint villages, each with its own unique character and story to tell.
Charming villages such as Tzermiado, Psychro, and Agios Georgios offer the chance to stroll through narrow streets, enjoy a coffee in a traditional kafeneio, or taste local delicacies prepared with ingredients fresh from the land. Hospitality here is heartfelt, and visitors are often welcomed as friends rather than strangers.

A visit to the Lasithi Plateau is more than a sightseeing trip—it is an immersion into the timeless soul of Crete, where nature, history, and tradition embrace you at every turn.
