Overview

The Peninsula That Makes Guests Forget the Entire Rest of Crete

Akrotiri is Chania's best-kept secret. Tucked just 20 minutes from the Old Town, this dramatic peninsula packs medieval monasteries, hidden gorges, a cinematic beach, and a wild turquoise cove into a single half-day — without a single tour bus in sight.

On this fully private, bespoke experience, your dedicated driver-guide takes you beyond the postcard stops. You'll discover the exact locations most tours only vaguely mention, move entirely at your own pace, and capture photographs that the Instagram crowd consistently misses.

Why This Tour?
Because Akrotiri has no equal within a 30-minute drive of Chania — and the difference between visiting with a private guide and a group bus is the difference between experiencing it and merely passing through it.

What to expect

Seitan Limania Beach
1h

This is the ultimate photo op. Seitan Limania is a hidden, narrow cove carved into rugged cliffs. As a private tour, you have the choice: Enjoy the jaw-dropping view from the cliffs above to snap the perfect photo, or—if you have proper footwear and high physical fitness—take the steep, rocky hike down to the beach for a quick, adventurous swim.
1h · Admission ticket not included

Step into the majestic Agia Triada, one of the wealthiest and most beautiful monasteries in Crete. Admire its impressive Renaissance architecture, vibrant gardens, and serene courtyards. Bonus Local Experience: You can visit the monks' cellars to taste and purchase their award-winning local wines and organic olive oil directly from the source.
Gouverneto Monastery
2h · Admission ticket not included

Drive into the rugged, lunar-like landscape of the Akrotiri peninsula to reach the fortress-style Gouverneto Monastery. For the adventurous, this stop offers much more: follow the historic stone-paved path down the gorge to discover the Cave of St. John the Hermit and the awe-inspiring Katholiko Monastery—built directly into the cliffs with its massive stone bridge. If you're feeling energetic, you can continue all the way down to the small, rocky fjord for a dip in the most secluded waters of Chania. Bespoke Choice: Since this is a private tour, you decide how far to go—stay at the serene main monastery or embark on a 1-hour scenic hike.
Stavros Beach
1h

Contrast the wildness of Seitan Limania with the ultimate relaxation of Stavros. Nestled under a camel-shaped mountain, this wind-protected, sandy bay is perfect for a leisurely swim, making it highly family-friendly. It’s also the ideal, flexible stop to enjoy an optional premium seafood lunch at a seaside taverna before heading back.
Venizelos Graves
1h

Stand at one of the most famous and romantic viewpoints in Crete. Surrounded by lush pine trees, the graves of the prominent Venizelos family offer an uninterrupted, panoramic view of the entire city of Chania and the White Mountains. It’s the perfect spot for spectacular photos and a quick coffee while your guide shares a brief modern history of the island.
The Local Secret: After a brief walk through the historic gardens, we’ll stop at a beloved local café. You can enjoy your coffee with a view of the sunset and try the legendary, decadent "Sokolatopita" (chocolate pie)—widely considered the best in Chania. It’s the ultimate way to soak in the atmosphere like a local.
