Natal Lion Park spans several hectares of virgin African bushveld. It is a haven for many different bird species and all sorts of trees. Here we encounter elephants. We also encounter close range viewing of lions in a hair raising never to be forgotten experience.
  3. Drakensberg Region
    15h
From Natal Lion Park we depart en route to Drakensberg Mountains. This route takes us through the popular Midlands Meander area. We drive through the valleys and hills as we make our way in this area.

The Drakensberg region is extraordinary, thanks to the dramatically beautiful setting. This region is home to the awe-inspiring mountain range which is predominantly found in the KwaZulu Natal Province. The Drakensberg Mountain range is more than 200 kilometres long and combines rugged peaks with verdant valleys and spectacular backdrops. It creates a natural border between the kingdom of Lesotho and the province of KwaZulu-Natal. We spend our first night at a 3 or 4 star hotel in the Drakensberg Mountains area.
Day 2: A day in the Drakensberg Mountains
  1. Drakensberg Region
    9h
This day is spent in the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains. After breakfast we go for mountain hiking in the Drakensberg Mountains. The Ukhahlamba Mountains (the barrier of spears) also known as The Dragon Mountain offers the most beautiful scenery imaginable, a challenge for adventure seekers. Our hiking also takes us to some very old bushmen paintings. This day is spent hiking, seeing the bush, plants and flowers, birds, and much more.
Day 3: Drakensberg to Durban via Nelson Mandela Capture site
  1. Drakensberg Mountains
    1h
On day 3 after breakfast we do a tour of any areas of interest so far not covered by our tour
  2. Nelson Mandela Capture Site
    3h · Admission ticket included
Nelson Mandela was arrested on 5 August 1962 outside of Howick, KZN Natal, South Africa. He spent the next 27 years of his life in prison. The Nelson Mandela Capture Site commemorates this moment in history with a museum and a world renowned sculpture. Here we first visit the Capture Site Museum. Thereafter we visit the world renowned Nelson Mandela monument.
  3. Howick Falls
    1h
The Howick Falls view from the top, in particular, is pretty inspiring, and the volley of water mesmerising. The waterfall is a 95 metre cascade into a broiling, restless pool, regarded by the local Zulus with grave superstition, and said to be the place of the spirits of ancestors. We visit this spectacle and see for ourselves.
  4. Durban
