   Pass by
Your journey begins in Salt Lake City, where Utah’s rich history meets its breathtaking natural beauty.
As you leave the city behind, the landscape transforms — towering mountains frame the horizon, vast valleys stretch into the distance, and the shimmering Great Salt Lake begins to reveal its mysterious pink hues.
This captivating route unfolds as a true Great Salt Lake Odyssey, guiding you through places where history, geology, and art merge into a landscape so surreal it feels almost otherworldly.
2. 20m
Our first stop will be the remarkable “Stinky Springs.”
Imagine this: mineral-rich water bubbling up from the earth, interacting for millions of years with sulfur compounds deep beneath Utah’s crust. That distinct aroma? It’s the result of fascinating geothermal processes unfolding underground. What truly captivates here is the water’s incredible color — a vivid emerald-green hue shimmering in the sunlight, revealing layers of mineral deposits and creating a mesmerizing natural palette found nowhere else.
3. Golden Spike National Historical Park
   40m · Admission ticket included
Next, we’ll step back in time at Golden Spike National Historical Park — a powerful symbol of innovation and the dawn of a new era.
Here in 1869, a single golden spike united East and West, marking the completion of America’s first transcontinental railroad.
You’ll stand where iron rails, wooden ties, and the thunder of early steam locomotives forever changed the course of the nation’s history.
4. 2h
The pinnacle of your journey is the exploration of the remote and enigmatic Rozel Point Peninsula on the shores of the Great Salt Lake — a place that feels like another planet. To help you comfortably explore this ancient ecosystem, we’ll provide special rubber footwear that easily slips over your shoes. It allows you to stroll along a shoreline encrusted with brilliant white salt crystals glistening in the sunlight and even wade knee-deep into the lake’s otherworldly pink waters — a surreal, impossibly photogenic landscape. Here, beneath the open sky, you’ll touch rare gypsum crystals — identical to those discovered by NASA on Mars — and see Utah’s oldest natural crude oil seep, a captivating reminder of the region’s geological past.
5. Spiral Jetty
   30m
Your journey concludes with a visit to the legendary Spiral Jetty — a masterpiece by American artist Robert Smithson, created in 1970. Stretching over 1,500 feet (457 m) long and 15 feet (4.5 m) wide, this monumental land art installation, built from black basalt rocks and salt, stands as a timeless symbol of the harmony between art and nature.
Considered one of the largest and most iconic earthworks of its kind, Spiral Jetty represents the spirit of artistic exploration and connection to the landscape that defined an entire movement in environmental art.
What makes Spiral Jetty truly mesmerizing is its ever-changing form. Depending on the lake’s water level, the spiral may lie fully submerged, rise above the surface, or glisten with pink salt crystals under the Utah sun. It’s an unmissable stop for unforgettable photographs — and a rare opportunity to stand before one of America’s most extraordinary artistic landmarks.
