During the tour, you will come face to face with striking skulls of artificial deformation, a fascinating display of how ancient elites sought distinction and spiritual connection with the gods. You will examine original ceramic relics in impeccable condition and the primitive stone tools with which the ancient inhabitants achieved the feat of carving an entire mountain. Furthermore, you can carefully study a giant scale model of El Fuerte, the only way to view from an aerial perspective the gigantic engravings of pumas, jaguars, and snakes that vegetation and erosion sometimes hide at ground level. You will get an in-depth knowledge of the transition between the local Chané culture and the later Inca Empire, learning to read every symbol, channel, and ceremonial niche.
