Start your tour with a visit to Sakkara, home to the Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser, built to house his mummified body. Constructed in 2611 B.C., this remarkable pyramid stands 62 meters high with six stepped layers of stone, representing a major milestone in the evolution of pyramid architecture and a precursor to the Great Pyramids of Giza.
