What to expect

Grand View Point Overlook
20m · Admission ticket not included

The name suggests a Grand View and that is what the overlook here delivers.

From this southernmost point of the Island in the Sky, we peer down across the valley, further deepened by a maze of canyons.

Where the canyons cut down, it's like we are looking into a billion years of the earth's history.
Aztec Butte Trail
10m

Discover ancient Puebloan history as you hike up to Aztec Butte, where granaries used by early settlers are still visible. The moderate trail offers breathtaking desert views and a glimpse into the resourcefulness of the people who once called this area home.
Green River Overlook
10m

This iconic viewpoint offers incredible views of the Green River cutting through dramatic canyons. Set within the Island in the Sky district, the overlook reveals vast, layered landscapes, showing the raw power of erosion and time that have shaped the Canyonlands.
Monitor and Merriamac Rock Formations
15m

Named after Civil War ironclads, these twin sandstone formations rise majestically from the desert floor. Merrimac and Monitor Buttes are a striking example of the towering natural monoliths that define the beauty and grandeur of Utah’s landscapes.
Mesa Arch
20m

A picturesque arch perched on the edge of a cliff, Mesa Arch frames a stunning sunrise view over the canyon below. One of Canyonlands' most famous landmarks, this short hike leads to a natural window offering views that stretch to the distant La Sal Mountains.
Upheaval Dome
30m

Explore the mysteries of Upheaval Dome, a crater with a debated origin. Some believe it was caused by a meteor impact, while others suggest it’s a salt dome collapse. The short but steep hike rewards with fascinating geological features and a sweeping view of the dome itself.
