Overview

The Gulf of California (Sea of Cortes) IS the aquarium of the world, thanks to nutirent dense upwellings from the North. Migrations of Mobula Rays in Summer, and whales in winter, have been documented as some of the most awe-inspiring feats of nature. This natural and safe animal-encounter tour is accessible to anyone who loves to be in the water - there is no age restriction! The mobula rays that arrive in summer are one of nature's great events and it happens in very few places around the world... except right here in Cabo every summer! This is conducted by a bespoke adventure snorkeling and scuba diving company in Los Cabos. We have expert guides who are all PADI Divemaster trained as a minimum but are also very accustomed to being in the water with all kinds of large aquatic animals. We offer video footage to document this special day. NOTE: We need a minimum of 2 people to send this tour. Tours Dec - March often cancel due to windy condtions.

What's included

  • Use of Snorkelling equipment
  • Drinking water in reusable containers.

What to expect

The tour starts at headquarters to fit equipment and then we walk 8 minutes to the boat. Your guide will give a briefing about Best Practice behaviours before setting off to scout for all kinds of life! Dolphins, turtles, and even huge super squadrons of mobula rays in May - July! NO SIGHTINGS ARE GUARATEED and so we snorkel for one hour at the reef during this tour so you can see some of the reef wildlife if the wildlife is shy. We will be in shallow and deep water areas, but it's totally your call when you jump in! We have wetsuits and floatation devices on hand. The activity involves a certain level of fitness as you will need to swim along to keep up! The captain will position himself close to the wildlife, but we always keep the boat at a respectful distance. Occasionally, wildife will come to us and move around under the boat which means we can just hang there and watch! We are not permitted to swim with baleen whales (like humpbacks!) and we always evaluate guest safety and comfort of the wildlife before jumping in. We find that 3 hours on the water is an optimal tour length and will head back in at that time. This tour is best in the morning, Checking in at 7am.
