Overview

This isn't a staged cultural show; it's a real day inside the daily life of a Maya family in Tres Reyes, who farm their own milpa, run their own corn mill, and cook their own recipes.

This is a fully private experience: just your group, seated at an actual family's table, in their actual home.

What sets it apart:
- Four hands-on classes: you'll weave a hammock, make tortillas from scratch, prepare sikil pak, and roast your own coffee, with the family guiding your hands, not just narrating.
- A cenote experience framed by real Maya cosmology, not just swimming here, but understanding why this place mattered to the people who considered it sacred.
- A traditional pib feast: food slow-cooked in an underground earth oven, the same way this family has done it for generations.
- Direct economic support to the hosting family; your visit is their livelihood, not a franchise fee.

If you want to leave the Riviera Maya having actually met Yucatán, not just photographed it, this is that day.

What to expect

  1. Tres Reyes
    4h
Tucked inland from the Riviera Maya coastline, Tres Reyes is a living Maya community, not a recreated village, but a real one, where families still farm the milpa, raise their homes from local materials, and pass down traditions like weaving, tortilla-making, and coffee roasting through generations.

The surrounding land sits on the porous limestone bedrock typical of the Yucatán Peninsula, riddled with underground rivers and cenotes that the ancient Maya considered sacred, including the one you'll swim in during your visit.

    Attraction points you'll experience there:

The Milpa: a living, working cornfield using the ancestral Maya three-sisters farming method (corn, beans, squash), still central to the family's diet and identity.

The village Mill, where corn becomes the dough for everything from tortillas to tamales, using techniques unchanged for generations.

The Local Cuisine — pibil, sikil pak, and café de olla, all rooted in recipes specific to this community and this family.
  2. 1h · Admission ticket included
The Cenote: A Window into the Maya Underworld

Hidden deep in the jungle and managed entirely by the local Maya community, this semi-open cenote is one of thousands of sinkholes dotting the Yucatán's porous limestone bedrock.

This land was once seabed; as it rose, the limestone dissolved over millennia, carving out hidden rivers and caverns below the jungle floor. Where a cavern's ceiling collapses, a cenote is born; a window connecting the surface to the vast aquifer beneath.

For the ancient Maya, cenotes weren't just water sources; they were sacred portals to Metnal, the underworld (Xibalba in Guatemala), and the domain of Chaac, the rain god. Offerings and ceremonies here were believed to connect the living to the ancestors and gods below.

You'll spend a full hour floating in cool, crystal-clear water beneath hanging roots and filtered jungle light; a moment of stillness in a place the Maya considered holy, and one of the most memorable hours of your day.
