Overview

Join the 12 Apostles and Great Ocean Road Reverse Tour from Melbourne and enjoy this iconic journey with fewer crowds, smoother travel, and better photo opportunities. By heading inland first, we arrive at the 12 Apostles earlier in the day, giving you more space at the lookouts and a better chance to capture stunning photos before the busiest tour buses arrive. After the 12 Apostles, we continue along the Great Ocean Road, visiting wildlife areas, seaside towns, beaches, and famous coastal landmarks on the way back to Melbourne.

What's included

What to expect

  1. 2h
The Twelve Apostles are the highlight of our reverse Great Ocean Road tour, with extra time to explore this spectacular stretch of coastline. Travelling inland from Melbourne, we arrive here before continuing through the Otways and along the Great Ocean Road.
Stroll along the clifftop boardwalks and viewing platforms for sweeping views of the limestone stacks, rugged cliffs and Southern Ocean. Take your time to capture photos and soak up the scenery.
Visit the new Keerray Woorroong Visitor Centre to discover the coast’s geology, shipwreck stories and Eastern Maar cultural heritage. Explore the gardens and head up to the rooftop lookout for another perspective on the landscape.
Before we continue our journey, enjoy a lunch break at the visitor centre’s café, with food and drinks available at your own expense.
  2. Great Otway National Park
    20m
As we travel from the 12 Apostles towards the lush Otway Ranges, keep your eyes on the eucalyptus trees for one of Australia’s most loved animals — the koala. This peaceful forest area is one of the best places along the Great Ocean Road to spot koalas in their natural habitat. We will stop so you can look for them high in the trees, enjoy the fresh forest air, and take memorable photos of these iconic Australian animals in the wild.
  3. Mait's Rest
    30m
Step into the ancient rainforest of the Great Otway National Park with a peaceful walk at Maits Rest. This short and easy boardwalk takes you through lush fern gullies, moss-covered forest floor, and towering rainforest trees, some hundreds of years old. It is a beautiful change of scenery after the coastal lookouts, offering a calm and refreshing stop surrounded by the sounds and colours of the Otway rainforest.
  4. Teddy's Lookout
    20m
Stop at Teddy’s Lookout, one of the most scenic viewpoints along the Great Ocean Road. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the winding road, the Saint George River, forested hills, and the beautiful coastline where the river meets the Southern Ocean. It is a perfect place to pause, take photos, and appreciate the dramatic combination of ocean, rainforest, and rugged coastal scenery before continuing the journey.
  5. Great Ocean Road Memorial Archway
    15m
Stop at the famous Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, one of the most recognisable landmarks on the route. This historic arch marks the beginning of the Great Ocean Road and pays tribute to the returned soldiers who built the road after the First World War. It is a popular photo stop and a great place to learn a little about the history behind this iconic coastal drive before continuing along the scenic coastline.
