Durban: Go on Safari at 2 Reserves: Hluhluwe-Imfolozi and Manyoni

Following a lioness and her cubs is always a highlight. Fortunately, our ranger at Manyoni makes a point of following their whereabouts to give you the best chance of encountering these Big Cats.

Being on an open safari vehicle within a private reserves allows us to encounter big game intimately as they are not alarmed by our vehicles. This means you can get up to 2 meters from an adult lion.

Conservation is key to ensuring the survival of Africa's iconic wildlife. As such a number of lions, elephant and rhino are collared and kept an eye on.

If these where Black Rhino this would be too close for comfort. These are White Rhino of course and tend to be more docile and calm.

When 2 rhinos encounter other game or people, they stand back to front. This is to ensure they have eyes everywhere. Learn more about these majestic animals from our knowledgeable safari ranger.

Both Hluhluwe-Imfolozi and Manyoni are credited with contributing towards saving the Southern White Rhino from extinction. Expect Rhino sightings.

Manyoni just happens to be home to the highest concentration of cheetah on any private reserve in South Africa.

With less than 550 African Wild Dogs in South Africa and between 3000 & 5000 left on the planet, this is always a rewarding sighting. Both Manyoni and Hluhluwe are home to these remarkable animals.

Elephant sightings are always a treat. They certainly have a way of humbling one. Fortunately, it is not uncommon to see Elephant on our Wildlife Lovers Big 5 Safari.

Hit the road bright and early —05h00. As you know wildlife, especially predators, are most active around dawn and dusk.

Enter the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve at Nyalazi Gate and enjoy a 2.5 hour morning game drive in one of our Hyundai H1 vehicles (Please note — this is not an open safari 4x4). Hluhluwe-Imfolozi is renowned for its White Rhino densities.

Keep your Carl Zeiss Terra ED 8x42 binoculars on hand, you never know what’s around the corner. Stop for lunch at Hilltop Camp. Lunch is at travellers own expense.

Time to head into one of KwaZulu Natal’s premier private game reserves: Manyoni Private Game Reserve! Meet Manyoni’s most experienced ranger and jump into an authentic open safari 4x4. Hluhluwe - iMfolozi Park Wilderness Area

Travellers will enter through the Nyalazi Gate on the Imfolozi side of the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve and embark on a 2.5 hour game drive in one of our Hyundai H1 Vehicles. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi is renowned for their White Rhino and Elephant sightings so keep your eyes pealed. Thereafter we will enjoy a picnic lunch or lunch at Hilltop Camp that is complimented with a stunning view over the reserve below.
Manyoni Private Game Reserve

Travellers will enter the Manyoni Private Game Reserve which a 23 000 hectare game reserve and is otherwise reserved for guests staying at one of the luxury safari lodges located on the reserve. Travellers will then meet our knowledgeable and interesting safari ranger who will brief you as to game drive etiquette. Thereafter you will jump into an authentic open safari vehicle and embark on a 3.5 to 4 hour game drive as you track Africa's iconic wildlife and learn more about the African bush and ecosystem.
