The area is an important wildlife habitat and forms part of the wider elephant movement corridor connecting the Habarana region with nearby wildlife areas such as Minneriya and Kaudulla.
The main attraction of a Hurulu safari is the opportunity to observe wild Sri Lankan elephants in their natural environment. you may see:
• Sri Lankan elephants
• Spotted deer
• Wild buffalo
• Grey langurs and other monkeys
• Wild boar
• Peacocks
• Eagles and other birds of prey
• Kingfishers and water birds
• Monitor lizards
• Other reptiles and smaller wildlife
Leopards and sloth bears are also part of the wider wildlife of the region, but they are rare and never guaranteed. Wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions and animal movements.
