Introduction to EN gondola ride
Canal Grande
Pass by

“The most beautiful road in the world”, so the Grand Canal is known. Looking around DE you, what you will see is almost exactly what an 18th-century nobleman would have contemplated — and before him, a courtesan DE the Renaissance, and even before that, a merchant of the Middle Ages.
Chiesa di San Moise
Pass by

Near Place Saint-Marc, facing the church of San Moisè (Saint Moses) and the resort DE gondolas, the Guide will introduce you to the elegant and romantic world of gondolas.
Teatro La Fenice
Pass by

Once one DE the city’s seven major theatres, the Fenice is now Venice’s only opera house. A gem among European theatres, it shone from its beginnings, hosting the works DE the greatest composers of the time such as Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini. However, it is Giuseppe Verdi who remains most closely linked to Fenice and Venetian memory.
Punta della Dogana
Pass by

The Punta DElla Dogana separates the Grand Canal from the Giudecca Canal. EN because DE its strategic position, it was once home to customs and the DE sel warehouses. In the 15th century, the maritime customs, previously located near the Arsenal, was transferred to the occidental end DE Dorsoduro.
Basilica Santa Maria della Salute
Pass by

Here, EN entering the Grand Canal, you admire the church DE la Madonna della Salute.

The first thing that strikes the visitor is the imposing silhouette DE the building, strategically placed at the entrance of the Grand Canal and facing the rest DE the city in all directions, thanks to its circular shape.

EN Today, every November 21, the city celebrates the Madonna DElla Salute in memory DE the end of the plague.
Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore
Pass by

You will have a view of the island DE San Giorgio Maggiore, with its magnificent Renaissance church built by Palladio and its bell tower reminiscent of the large bell tower DE San Marco Square. The island was once known as Île DEs Cypresses before becoming an important Benedictine monastery.
