Hailed as the world’s pioneering underwater museum focused on hydrological heritage, it safeguards the ancient Baiheliang Stone Beam – a natural rock reef stretching 1,600 meters long in the Yangtze River, now submerged 40 meters beneath the water’s surface. Board the 91-meter inclined elevator to descend into the underwater corridor, where 23 pressure-resistant observation windows provide unobstructed views of 165 inscriptions dating back to the Tang Dynasty and 18 intricately carved stone fish. These relics serve as both the "world’s earliest ancient hydrological station" (documenting over 1,200 years of Yangtze River data) and an "underwater forest of stone steles," featuring calligraphy works from celebrated literati such as Huang Tingjian. The above-ground exhibition hall also showcases advanced preservation technologies and engaging interactive displays.
