What to expect

Day 1: Begin the trek to Yanaqocha after a visit to Antanuca and Incan school Yachawaysi
  1. Ollantaytambo
    12h
The Yanaqocha Lake trek is a one-of-a-kind and convenient full day Sacred Valley adventure tour offered only by Puma Path Adventures. It begins at Antanuca, located only 20 minutes from the market and train station in Ollantaytambo, the gateway to Machu Picchu. On the way up the mountain you will visit the Incan school Yachaywasy. As a unique add-on we’ll be offering an ancient blessing ceremony in honor of Pachamama (Mother Earth) before you continue to the private and sacred land of Antanuca. We then begin our trek to Yanaqocha Lake. This trek starts from 10,000 ft / 3000 m at Antanuca and finishes at 13,780 ft / 4200 m. Lunch and dinner will be served as well as all camping equipment is provided at our private campsite.
Day 2: Return from Lake Yanaqocha to Antanuca and your hotel in the Sacred Valley
  1. Ollantaytambo
    8h
We return to Antanuca after a delicious organic breakfast and a leisurely start to your day. Our trek takes us from Yanaqocha to Onora Pampa where we’ll be able to see the towns of Choquebama and Ollantaytambo. Choquebamba is an ancient Incan city, larger than Machu Picchu, which is to this day covered by vegetation. In addition to these we’ll also view other sacred Incan locations from a distance. We then begin downhill to Antanuca where we’ll arrive mid-day in time for an organic lunch at Kuntur restaurant located at the Vertical Sky Suites. After lunch there’s an opportunity to participate in our reforestation effort by planting trees, visiting our organic gardens which our llamas and alpacas call home. In the mid-afternoon your private transport will bring you to the train station in Ollantaytambo for your late afternoon train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) or return to your hotel in the Sacred Valley or Cusco.
