Meet your interpreter-guide at a historic Shinto shrine in central Osaka, within easy reach of the city’s main sightseeing areas. During this four-hour private experience, explore the techniques and cultural background of Japanese swordsmanship.
Begin by learning how to pay your respects at the shrine. Then enter a quiet indoor room reserved exclusively for your group with special permission.
Meet your sword master and learn how to bow to the sword before practicing stance, footwork, grip, hand control, and breathing. Instruction is adapted to your experience and interests, whether you are a beginner or have a martial arts background.
Your interpreter-guide supports communication throughout the session, so you can ask about technique, etiquette, and why swordsmanship is still practiced today.
Finish by watching a close-up shinken, or live-blade, demonstration. Observe how movement, breathing, timing, and concentration come together in the hands of an experienced practitioner.
Meeting Point: In front of the 7-Eleven Osaka Kozu 1-chome Store.
