Arenal Volcano Hidden Hot River and Waterfalls Premium Tour

1. 20m
Before you even reach the volcano, Costa Rica makes its first move.

The sound reaches you before the water does. A deep roar that builds with every step until the trees open and there it is — white water crashing through volcanic rock, mist in the air, the rainforest doing what it was meant to do.

Nestled on the eastern slopes of Poás Volcano, La Paz Waterfall is one of the most photogenic scenes in the country. Your local guide knows the exact angle — the kind that does not need filters to tell your story.

Keep your eyes open. A blue morpho butterfly may cross your path, its wings catching the light like something that should not exist in nature. A coati might appear along the roadside.

Local farmers line the road with fresh products from the region. Strawberries still warm from the field, tropical fruits you have never tasted. You try something you cannot name. You will remember it anyway.

This is only the first stop.
2. 40m
The San Fernando Waterfall View Point.

Some places exist on maps. Others exist only if someone takes you there.

Perched on the mountain, this terrace is where locals stop. Bird watchers have had it mapped for years, drawn by the wildlife that fills every corner: hummingbirds darting between flowers, exotic species announcing themselves before you even see them, and in the distance, the steady roar of San Fernando Falls.

What makes this place unforgettable is what comes out of the kitchen. Traditional Costa Rican food, cooked over a wood fire the way it has always been done. If you feel like trying something local — and you should — this is the place.

Fifteen years ago, an earthquake shook its foundations and changed forever the people who call it home. It did not disappear. It became a symbol of resilience.

Around you, birds you have never heard before. The distant roar of the falls. Wood smoke from the kitchen.

Some places feed you. This one feeds something deeper.
3. Arenal Volcano
   1h 30m · Admission ticket included
Best Arenal Volcano View Point in the area.

Rising 1,670 meters with a silhouette so perfect it almost feels unreal, Arenal does not just dominate the landscape — it stays with you. In 1968, it erupted with a force that reshaped everything around it. What you see today — lava fields slowly reclaimed by forest — is what remains of that moment.

You will not walk on the crater — no one can. Instead, you reach a carefully chosen viewpoint where the volcano reveals itself as close as conditions allow.

On clear days, the full silhouette appears. On others, clouds move through the summit, changing the mood completely. You will also stand near ancient volcanic formations and lava flows from recent eruptions.

From this point, you can observe the old crater and the terrain shaped by Arenal’s most recent activity — details most travelers miss without knowing where to look.

Every stop comes with a story — the kind that connects geology, legend and life around the volcano.
4. La Fortuna
   1h 30m
Hidden Hot River in the Middle of the Forest

This is the part most travelers never find.

Hidden in the forest near La Fortuna, there is a natural river shaped by Arenal’s volcanic past. You do not arrive by accident — you arrive because someone knows exactly where to take you.

In 1968, when the volcano erupted, this river changed forever. What once flowed cold now runs warm, creating natural thermal pools between rocks and trees. There are no lockers, no tiles, no crowds — just flowing water, jungle and the sound of the river around you.

Getting here is part of the experience. A short walk through the forest, a few uneven steps, and then suddenly — you are there.

You step in slowly. The temperature feels just right. You sit back, surrounded by forest, steam rising gently as the current moves past you.

This is not something you plan. It is something you experience.

For many, this becomes the moment they remember most — even if they cannot fully explain how.
5. Los Lagos Hot Springs
   1h 30m · Admission ticket included
Every great day deserves an ending worthy of it.

Los Lagos Hot Springs is not a single experience — it is whatever you need it to be. Thermal pools surrounded by lush gardens for those who want to unwind in silence. Warmer pools where the body finally lets go. And for those who prefer something more lively, a thermal wet bar where music, laughter and a drink in hand close the day differently.

   The volcano watches over everything.

What many travelers do not realize is that this place is 100% Costa Rican — built and run by a local family known for their warmth and simplicity. You feel it in the details.

You move from one pool to another, feeling the contrast in temperature, the weight of the day slowly fading. Muscles relax. Time slows down.

Showers, changing rooms, food and drinks are available — all at your own pace.

No rush. No schedule. Just the final hours of a day that gave you more than you expected.
