Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and centuries-old stone houses, Phu offers a unique glimpse into traditional Tibetan-influenced mountain life. You can spend the day exploring the village, visiting the ancient Tashi Lhakhang Monastery (one of the oldest in the region), interacting with the locals, or simply resting and enjoying the stunning mountain views including Amotsang Himal, Kangaroo Mountain, and Pokharkan.

From Mahendra Pul, the trail climbs steeply uphill, with rows of ancient Buddhist stupas marking the path. The climb is steady but rewarding, and after around 2 hours of uphill trekking, we finally reach Nar Village, a beautiful settlement with strong Tibetan cultural influences and spectacular Himalayan views.

The trail is rugged and steep, but every step is worth it once we reach the top and are greeted with awe-inspiring vistas of snow-capped peaks stretching across the horizon.
  2. 12h
After soaking in the scenery and taking a well-earned rest at the pass, we begin our descent along a steep trail leading to the picturesque village of Ngawal. The downhill path requires careful footing but rewards us with changing landscapes and peaceful alpine surroundings.

The route takes us through tranquil pine forests while following the Marsyangdi River and passing by quaint monasteries, including the Braga Monastery, known for its serene setting and ancient architecture.

As we make our way gradually uphill to Mungli, the trail leads us toward Manang, a bustling village and one of the largest settlements in the district. Here, you’ll find cozy teahouses, cultural charm, and a stunning monastery. From Manang, the majestic Annapurna range offers a magnificent backdrop, making it the perfect spot for photography and relaxation before heading further into the mountains.
