Overview

Begin your Wasgamuwa National Park safari from your hotel in Kandy at 11:00, with a chauffeur driving you to this precious national park, located near the historic city of Polonnaruwa. The park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including large herds of elephants, leopards, sloth bears, monkeys, wild boar, and endemic bird species. Explore the dry tropical forest landscape, rich with flora and fauna, and enjoy a thrilling safari ride. Small water pools in the park attract aquatic life such as crocodiles, pythons, and beautiful aquatic birds, offering excellent photo opportunities. The best time to visit is from November to May when you’re likely to see large elephant herds. For those visiting Polonnaruwa and Dambulla, a safari here adds adventure to your itinerary. Evening safaris offer the chance to watch elephants bathing and birds heading to their nests. After the safari, return to your hotel by 20:30 for a seamless and exciting experience.
