Overview

We have Jackson's only "See Wildlife or Your Tour is Free" refund policy.

Hiking is a fantastic way to observe wildlife as well as take in Yellowstone’s unique geyser basins and volcanic landscape.

Your day will begin by passing through Grand Teton National Park, taking time to stop and observe wildlife and scenery along the way.

Once in Yellowstone we will making stops at Old Faithful geyser, Yellowstone Lake, the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the Hayden Valley depending on the route to your chosen trailhead.

Yellowstone National Park’s rich history, geology, wildfires and wildlife will be discussed in detail throughout the tour. The hike will offer an opportunity to get off the Park's crowded loop road and get a feel for being in a wild place (with a guide who carries bear spray) We also offer many stops throughout the tour for guests to get out of the vehicle and observe the wildlife with the binoculars and scope that we provide.

What to expect

  1. Yellowstone National Park
8h · Admission ticket not included
Your Expert naturalist guides will take you on a hike in Yellowstone. Your guides carry bear spray, are certified in Wilderness First Aid and know how to respect wildlife you might encounter on the trail

We offer hikes catered to all ages and abilities. The exact hike with be determined by consultation with you.

One of your favorite hikes is to the Grand Prismatic Spring overlook, Fairy Falls and Imperial Geyser in the Midway geyser basin. This is a relatively flat 6.7 mile out and back hike. We have a picnic by Imperial Geyser. We love hike this because it captures what is unique about Yellowstone: the geothermal features and affords time to visit the Grand Faithful geyser which is just 5 mile up the road from the trailhead.

Entry into Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks is not included in the tour. The most economic option is to buy an “America the Beautiful” annual pass ($80) which grants entry into all parks and monuments. Once inside the park all activities are free.
  2. Grand Prismatic Spring
    20m
One of our most popular hiking options: Fairy Falls and Imperial Geyser includes a small climb to the overlook of the Grand Prismatic Spring. This view from above avoids the crowds and allows you to take in the whole spring.
  3. Fairy Falls
    20m
Fairy Falls (200ft) is on the trail to Imperial Geyser. It is pretty as a destination in and of itself and is a 4.8-mile roundtrip if you decide to go no further. It is an additional 1 mile to Imperial Geyser from Fairy Falls. This extension is well worth it. You can hike to a waterfall anywhere, but visiting a backcountry geyser is a uniquely Yellowstone experience.
  4. Old Faithful
    1h
Depending on your chosen hike, you will have time to stop at Old Faithful and witness the geyser erupt (typically every 90 minutes)
  5. Grand Teton
2h · Admission ticket not included
The drive to Yellowstone takes you through Grand Teton National Park. There are opportunities to stop for the iconic sunrise on the Tetons photo and to view any wildlife we see.
