In 1679 Vauban is in Freiburg and begins the fortification construction. Centuries later, you can now find Vauban’s old granister (backpack) with many locked boxes and bags, as well as a book with his records of that time. There may be clues in these records about opening the locks – it seems Vauban didn’t just build a fortress here...
