Overview

Step into Shahjahanabad, the magnificent walled city built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639, the very visionary behind the Taj Mahal. This rare owner-led walk takes you deep into the soul of Old Delhi, through narrow centuries-old lanes lined with silversmiths, jewellers, clothiers, and traditional sweet shops that have stood for generations. Breathe in the intoxicating aromas of Khari Baoli, Asia's largest wholesale spice market, where over 500 varieties of spices, nuts, herbs, and rare food products have been traded for over 400 years. Unlike agency run tours, your guide is the founder, ensuring an intimate, safe, and deeply personal experience that no guidebook can replicate. This is not just a walk. This is Old Delhi, lived

Capable of holding over 25,000 worshippers at once, its grand red sandstone and white marble courtyard offers a breathtaking introduction to the Mughal world you are about to explore. Chandni Chowk Market
30m

Built by Shah Jahan's daughter Jahanara in 1650, Chandni Chowk, meaning "Moonlit Square" was once the grandest boulevard in all of Asia. Today it remains one of India's most vibrant and chaotic markets, a sensory feast of vivid saris, silver jewellery, dried fruits, spices, and traditional Indian sweets. Your guide will navigate you through the hidden side streets that most visitors never find, revealing the true beating heart of Old Delhi.
Gali Paranthe Wali
15m

Tucked inside a narrow lane off Chandni Chowk lies one of Delhi's most beloved culinary secrets "Gali Paranthe Wali", the "alley of stuffed breads." Family-run shops here have been serving freshly made parathas, stuffed with everything from potato and paneer to dried fruits and rabri since 1875. This is not street food. This is living culinary heritage, unchanged for over 150 years.
A tasting stop, highly recommended and not to be missed.
Khari Baoli
30m

Prepare your senses. Khari Baoli is Asia's largest wholesale spice market, and has been the trading heart of Old Delhi since the 17th century. Over 500 varieties of spices, herbs, nuts, seeds, dry fruits, rice, and tea are bought and sold here daily in a spectacle of colour, aroma, and commerce that is completely unique to this corner of the world. Your guide will help you identify rare spices, understand their culinary and medicinal uses, and find the best quality at the best prices.
25m

One of Old Delhi's best-kept secrets, Naughara, meaning "nine homes" is a tranquil gated neighbourhood entered through the bustling Kinari Bazaar, making its sudden quiet feel almost magical. At the end of this charming lane stands a 19th-century Jain Swetamber Temple, its entrance adorned in white marble, vivid stained glass, and brilliant painted panels. This is the hidden, spiritual soul of Shahjahanabad that most visitors never discover.
30m

Delhi's most historic silver and jewellery market takes its name from the Persian phrase Dur-e-be-baha, meaning "unparalleled pearl", a fitting title for a street that has traded in precious stones, gold, and silver since the reign of Shah Jahan in the 17th century. This lane witnessed one of history's darkest moments when Persian invader Nadir Shah's army looted its gold shops during the infamous Delhi Massacre of 1739. Today it thrives again, and its silversmiths produce some of the finest handcrafted jewellery in India.
Red Fort
15m

No journey through Shahjahanabad is complete without pausing before the iconic Red Fort, Shah Jahan's magnificent palace-fortress built in 1639, which gave the city its original character. Even viewed from the outside, its massive red sandstone walls rising 33 metres above the street are a powerful reminder of the empire that created everything around you.

Red Fort Exterior visit is what we do in this tour
