What to expect

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
  1. High Atlas Mountains
    2h
We will pick you up at your riad or your hotel and set off to cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass – at 2260m (7417ft) it’s the highest pass in Morocco. Enjoy amazing views of this fascinating landscape and the Berber villages it contains.
  2. Ait Ben Haddou
    2h
Continuing south we arrive at the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, probably the most celebrated, filmed and photographed Kasbah in Morocco. Featured in numerous films (including Lawrence of Arabia, The Sheltering Sky and Gladiator), it is the best-preserved Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  3. Ouarzazate
    1h
Continuing on to Ouarzazate, you will have the opportunity to explore the world famous Atlas Film Studios and the Taourirt Kasbah. Travelling along the Thousand Kasbah’s Road, we arrive at Dades Gorge where you will stay overnight in a hotel overlooking the valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Rissani – Merzouga – Sahara
  1. Todra Gorge
    2h
We take the road to Merzouga through the Todra Gorge, a narrow corridor with sheer cliffs 300m (985ft) high rising up dramatically each side. These are the most impressive cliffs in southern Morocco and they are well known to experienced mountaineers. In Todra Valley you will have a panoramic view of the surrounding area containing old mud houses.
  2. Merzouga Desert
    3h
Passing through villages like Tinjdad, Mallaab and Touroug we arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon to be welcomed by your camel guide who will take you across the sand dunes to a Bedouin camp, where you will spend the night experiencing the immensity and silence of the desert.
Day 3: Merzouga – Erfoud – Ziz Valley – Ceder Forest -Ifrane – Fes
  1. Middle Atlas Mountains
    3h
After a beautiful sunrise in the Sahara desert, you will camel trek back to Merzouga . We then leave for Fes, crossing the heart of the Middle Atlas Mountains through the Talghoumt Pass where nomadic shepherds tend their flocks.
  2. Azrou Cedar Forest
    30m
We arrive at the Cedar Forest – the largest one in Morocco – and home to the native Barbary apes and take time out to admire this incredible forest.
  3. Ifrane
    30m
Next, we pass through Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” due to its likeness to a Swiss alpine resort. Our journey ends at the Imperial City of Fes.
