Visit the historic Citadel, where the remains of the Umayyad Palace & the Temple of Hercules stand, along with the Archaeological Museum, home to an outstanding collection of artifacts. Continue to downtown Amman to see the impressive 2nd-century Roman Theatre & experience the lively traditional souks. A stroll through Jabal Amman reveals charming 19th-century houses, including the birthplace of the late King Hussein.
   
   Next, travel north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman provincial cities in the Middle East. Walk along its colonnaded streets, admire the hilltop temples, grand theatres, and expansive public plazas that bring the ancient city to life.
