Another compelling reason why Montserrat consistently ranks among the top five day trip destinations from Barcelona is the presence of the revered statue of Our Lady of Montserrat, also known as the Black Madonna. This iconic statue serves as the centerpiece around which the entire Montserrat Monastery was built.

The Black Madonna is renowned worldwide and is believed to have been originally carved in Jerusalem during the first century.
