What to expect

  1. 10m
The red windmill that became a Paris legend.
Begin beside the famous cabaret that opened in 1889, the same year as the Eiffel Tower. Hear how dancers, theatrical posters and the French cancan helped turn this corner of Paris into a worldwide symbol of nightlife.
Photo: your first Montmartre memory beneath the unmistakable red windmill.
  2. 5m
A little café with a cinematic passport.
Follow lively Rue Lepic to the café made internationally recognizable by Amélie in 2001. Its familiar frontage brings the neighborhood’s screen romance into everyday Paris, where café counters, neighborhood shops and morning routines provide their own charm.
Photo: a playful film-inspired moment outside the café.
  3. 15m · Admission ticket included
Private option: planned croissant venue, subject to opening and availability.
    A bakery with presidential credentials.
Savor one buttery croissant per guest at a bakery whose baker, Djibril Bodian, won Paris’s best-baguette competition in 2010 and 2015. Those bread-making victories brought the honor of supplying the Élysée Palace—a delicious connection between everyday breakfast and presidential tables.
The included treat is a croissant; the awards recognize the bakery’s baguettes. Additional pastries, such as a pain au chocolat, are optional purchases, not included; at your own expense.

  4. 5m
Alternative croissant venue — Boulangerie Alexine.
Private option only; replaces the bakery experience above.
    Taste the neighborhood’s everyday Paris.
This artisan bakery prepares bread, viennoiseries and pâtisserie on site, offering a tempting glimpse of Montmartre beyond its famous façades. It is a practical alternative when Le Grenier à Pain is closed, particularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
One croissant per guest is included at one bakery only.

Parisian daily life beneath an Art Nouveau flourish.

Photo: a Paris postcard moment beside the graceful green Métro entrance.
  6. 5m
A love letter in hundreds of voices.
Discover the story of a wall that brings together 311 declarations of love in more than 250 languages. Created in 2000, it turns a simple phrase into a celebration of connection across cultures.
The wall is currently inaccessible for safety reasons. Your guide introduces its story from an accessible nearby area; a close-up view is not promised.
Photo: the romantic Abbesses setting and surrounding neighborhood details.
  7. 5m
A tiny square with an enormous artistic past.

Where Paris changed a painter’s colors.
Look up at the building where Vincent van Gogh lived with his brother Theo during his Paris years, 1886–1888. The surrounding streets became subjects for his work as encounters with new artists helped brighten his palette.
Photo: an ordinary Parisian façade with an extraordinary connection.

Windmills, dancing and an Impressionist masterpiece.
Discover a surviving reminder of Montmartre’s rural past and its lively dance-hall culture. Renoir immortalized the atmosphere in his famous 1876 painting, capturing a world of music, movement and Sunday pleasure.
Photo: the windmill rising unexpectedly above the neighborhood.
  12. 5m
Vines growing above the rooftops of Paris.
Discover a surprising patch of wine country on the hillside. Created in 1933 through local efforts to protect the land from development, this vineyard preserves Montmartre’s agricultural memory in the middle of the city.
Photo: vineyard rows framed by the surrounding Parisian buildings.
  13. 5m
The cabaret where even a donkey became an artist.
Meet a wonderfully eccentric chapter of Montmartre history. Singer Aristide Bruant bought this cabaret in 1913 to save it from demolition; its stories include Lolo the donkey, whose paintbrush-equipped tail helped create a notorious artistic prank.

  14. 10m

The pink house with artists in its past.
