While this iconic scene was shot in Central Park, other scenes set in the park were filmed in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Both parks, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and built just years apart, share a similar layout, including a lake and a boathouse. However, Prospect Park features a waterfall, a crucial element in the Smurfs' storyline, prompting the filmmakers to capture that particular scene in Prospect Park.
