Overview

Experience the Great Migration with time, flexibility and a more personal approach. Rather than rushing through the Serengeti, you’ll spend several nights exploring the park before reaching the remote Northern Serengeti and Mara River.

A major highlight is your all-inclusive stay in the Northern Serengeti, where you’ll spend two nights close to the Mara River. Your luxury tented camp includes accommodation, all meals, drinks and the essentials for a comfortable stay in this remote part of the park. This gives you more time to relax between game drives and stay close to the migration action.

With a private 4x4 safari vehicle and an experienced Tanzanian guide, you can follow the movement of the herds and spend more time in areas where wildlife activity is happening.

On your final morning, enjoy an early Mara River game drive before breakfast, then transfer to a nearby airstrip for a scenic bush flight back to Arusha or Zanzibar

What to expect

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
  1. Tarangire National Park
    12h
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha. Meet your private safari guide and set off towards Tarangire National Park.

Known for its magnificent baobab trees, large elephant herds and diverse wildlife, Tarangire is an excellent introduction to Tanzania's northern safari circuit. Enjoy a game drive through the park with time to look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, lions and other wildlife.

After lunch and further game viewing, continue towards the Ngorongoro Highlands. Arrive at the crater rim in the late afternoon and settle into Lions Paw, where you can relax and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
  1. Ngorongoro Crater
    10h · Admission ticket included
Rise early and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. The crater is one of Tanzania's most remarkable wildlife areas, offering excellent opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and, with luck, black rhino.

After the crater experience, continue west towards the Serengeti. As you enter the park, the landscape opens into the vast plains for which the Serengeti is famous.

Optional: Depending on timing and arrangements, visit a Maasai community along the way for a cultural experience.

Continue to Kubu Kubu Tented Camp in the central Serengeti for dinner and your overnight stay. The camp is strategically positioned for exploring the wider Serengeti.
Day 3: Full-Day Serengeti Safari – Heart of the Serengeti
  1. Serengeti National Park
    1 day
Today is dedicated entirely to the Serengeti.
After an early breakfast, head out with your private guide for a full-day game drive through the central Serengeti. This gives you time to explore beyond the main routes and follow current wildlife activity.

Depending on the season and location of the herds, you may encounter large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra alongside lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes and buffaloes.

Your guide will adapt the day's route according to wildlife movements, weather and your interests, making the most of your time in the park.

Return to Kubu Kubu in the evening for dinner and a relaxing night in the Serengeti.
Day 4: Central Serengeti – Northern Serengeti
  1. Serengeti National Park
    1 day
After breakfast, begin the journey north through the Serengeti with game viewing along the way.

The scenery gradually changes as you approach the remote northern Serengeti and the Mara River region. This is where the Great Migration becomes especially dramatic during the river-crossing season.

Arrive at Mara Mara Tented Camp in time for lunch and some relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, head out towards the Mara River with your private guide. If the wildebeest are gathering or preparing to cross, you'll have the opportunity to wait and observe their movements from designated viewing areas.

The river crossings are completely natural and unpredictable, so patience is part of the experience, Return to camp in the evening for dinner
Day 5: Full-Day Mara River & Northern Serengeti Safari
  1. Serengeti National Park
    1 day
Today is the heart of your Great Migration experience, Set out early for a full-day game drive around the Mara River and northern Serengeti. Your guide will monitor wildlife activity and decide where to spend time based on the movements of the herds.

If wildebeest gather near a crossing point, you'll have the opportunity to observe one of nature's most extraordinary spectacles. You may also encounter crocodiles in the river and resident predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards.
The migration does not follow a timetable, so the day is intentionally flexible.

Optional: A Serengeti hot-air balloon safari can be arranged in advance, subject to availability and seasonal operation. Northern Serengeti balloon flights operate during the migration season, offering a spectacular sunrise view over the plains.

Return to Mara Mara Tented Camp for your final night in the north.
Day 6: Early-Morning Mara River Game Drive – Fly to Arusha or Zanzibar
  1. Serengeti National Park
    5h
Wake early for your final game drive in the northern Serengeti.
The cool morning hours can be excellent for wildlife viewing and photography, giving you one last opportunity to search for the migration herds and resident wildlife around the Mara River.
Return to camp for breakfast before driving to a nearby airstrip for your scheduled bush flight.

Fly back to Arusha or, on request continue directly to Zanzibar.

Your safari ends with the freedom to continue your Tanzanian journey without a long road transfer.
