Edinburgh Castle is Scotland’s most famous fortress and one of the country’s most visited attractions. Perched dramatically on an ancient volcanic rock high above the city, the castle has dominated Edinburgh’s skyline for centuries and played a central role in Scotland’s history.

Visitors can explore the Crown Jewels of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, St Margaret’s Chapel (the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh), the Great Hall, the Royal Palace, and the National War Museum. The castle was once a royal residence, military stronghold, prison, and symbol of Scottish power.

From its battlements, visitors enjoy spectacular panoramic views across Edinburgh and beyond. The castle is also home to the famous One O’Clock Gun, fired daily (except Sundays and certain holidays), a tradition dating back to 1861.

A visit to Edinburgh Castle offers a fascinating journey through Scotland’s royal history and Scottish identity.

The first occurrence should be an entity:

Rosslyn Chapel is one of Scotland’s most remarkable and mysterious historic buildings. Founded in 1446 by William Sinclair, the chapel is renowned for its extraordinary stone carvings, intricate symbolism, and centuries of legends and folklore.

Every surface of the chapel is decorated with beautifully carved figures, biblical scenes, plants, animals, angels, and mysterious symbols. Among its most famous features are the Apprentice Pillar, the Green Men carvings, and the richly decorated ceiling. The chapel has inspired countless theories linking it to the Knights Templar, the Holy Grail, and Freemasonry, although many of these stories remain speculative.

Rosslyn Chapel gained worldwide fame through Dan Brown’s bestselling novel and film adaptation of The Da Vinci Code, which brought millions of visitors to this small village just south of Edinburgh.
