Christian Rome Four Major Basilicas and Lunch Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia

1. Arcibasilica di San Giovanni in Laterano
   1h
Dedicated to John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, the Basilica of St. John Lateran is the first among the four major basilicas of Rome.
2. Pontifical Sanctuary of the Holy Stairs
   30m
According to an ancient Christian tradition, Saint Helena (†335), the mother of Constantine, had the stairs transported from Pontius Pilate’s palace in Jerusalem to Rome.
3. Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore
   1h
The Patriarchal Basilica of St. Mary Major reigns as an authentic jewel in the crown of Roman churches. Its beautiful treasures are of inestimable value, and represent the Church's role as the cradle of Christian artistic civilization in Rome.
4. Basilica Papale Di San Paolo Fuori le Mura
   1h
The place where Christians venerated the memory of Saint Paul the Apostle, beheaded under Nero around 65-67 A.D. Above his grave, located along the Ostiense Way, Emperor Constantine built a Basilica.
5. Campo De' Fiori
   45m
Lunch Time: Lunch included only on Private Tour Option in a typical Roman Restaurant.
6. St. Peter's Basilica
   1h
St. Peter’s Basilica (if and when open): The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican is the papal enclave within the city of Rome. St. Peter’s Basilica is a working church – the largest in the world – and is therefore free to enter. It’s inside the borders of Vatican City but the public are allowed just walk into it from Rome’s streets. Lines to get in to Michelangelo’s famous basilica, which snake round the grand cloisters around the outside of the square, can be extremely long, and though they move fast can appear rather daunting.
